From June 12-15, 2003 the annual NOAH Field Trip took place at Natural Bridge State Park near Slade, Kentucky. Thirty people enjoyed finding reptiles and amphibians, despite daily heavy rain. All herps were photographed and released at their point of capture.

Herping Country
Rocky, forested habitats are one of the many places where we looked for reptiles and amphibians.

King Of Snakes

Butterflies Butterflies
Tiger Swallowtails, a Black Swallowtail and Red-spotted Purples congregate to drink water.
Ringneck Ringneck Snake
The most commonly seen snake on the trip was the Northern Ringneck (Diadophis punctatus).
Bridge Natural Bridge
Scenic, even if you're not catching reptiles and amphibians.
Fence Lizard Fence Lizard
A pretty big Fence Lizard (Sceloporus undulatus).
Dusky Salamanders Salamandermania
We found many salamanders of several different types. Pictured are Northern Dusky Salamanders (Desmognathus fuscus).
Water Snake Water Snake
The first snake I found on the trip was this Northern Water Snake (Nerodia sipedon).
