Wanna Lizard?
Kenny poses with yet another zebratail which he has noosed.
Back of a Zebratail
| Zebratails live around washes and areas where there is not enough plant growth to hinder running. They easily chase down insects, spiders and other invertebrates.
Check Out Those Toes
| Zebratails have long toes with fringed scales to get traction in the loose sand.
Side Blotched Lizard
| The Side Blotched Lizard (Uta stansburiana) is the smallest and most common lizard found in the daytime. They only grow to about 4 inches, but are extremely variable in color and pattern. Side Blotches will come out during the cooler temperatures that other desert lizards find unfavorable.
Side Blotched Lizard Close Up
| Male Side Blotched Lizards often have blue or purple colors and patterns.
Female Side Blotched Lizard | Female Side Blotched Lizards usually have a zigzag pattern on their backs.
Third Eye! | The spot you see on this Side Blotched Lizard's head (the light spot with the dark spot in the center) is its "third eye." It is used for sensing light and is equipped with an optic nerve.
